  • RNA-seq Assembly Results Lacking "ATG" at the Beginning of Each Transcripts

    Hi all,

I am new to RNA-seq reads assembly area, and just get my 1st assembly results.

But when I checked the start condon "ATG" in those transcripts I got, I found that there are transcripts without "ATG" in it. (Sorry I did not state my question clear before.)

The absence of ATG may imply the transcripts are not "full-length".

What kind of modification should I do after assembly to get full-length transcripts?

    Thanks a lot in advance!!!!!!!!!

You need to brush up on your basic molecular biology.

It is not normal for translation to start at the very tip of the transcript. 5' UTR (Untranslated regions) are totally normal in transcripts.
