  • CASAVA installation

    Dear all,

I have a problem about CASAVA installation.
As per Linux manual, I typed 'sudo apt-get install CASAVA_v1.7.0.rpm' in the terminal. (I am using Ubuntu). Till "reading state information" was done well. But it said "E:unable to locate package CASAVA_v1.7.0-Linux-x86_64.rpm" and failed to install.

I could simply use browser for unpacking rpm file but I didn't know how I move on the next step. Illumina Casava guide looks so difficult to understand. I found the instruction for installation but I coudn't understand.

Is there anyone who help me to install Casava on Linux? I am newbie in bioinformatics so it's hard to understand Linux system.....

rpm is not the default package manager in ubuntu (debian). You'll have to get the .deb version from illumina to make it work in your distribution.

If they don't have it, you can always get the tarball. The precompiled version will be easier though.

      Choosing Between NGS and qPCR
      by seqadmin

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) are essential techniques for investigating the genome, transcriptome, and epigenome. In many cases, choosing the appropriate technique is straightforward, but in others, it can be more challenging to determine the most effective option. A simple distinction is that smaller, more focused projects are typically better suited for qPCR, while larger, more complex datasets benefit from NGS. However,...
