  • Join us at BGI's ICG Americas 2012 - A Rare Gathering of Genomics Industry Luminaries

On behalf of BGI and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), it gives us great pleasure to invite you to attend ICG Americas 2012, the first annual International Conference on Genomics to be held in the U.S.!

Scheduled for September 27 to 28, 2012 in Philadelphia, PA, the conference will be modeled after BGI’s International Conferences on Genomics held annually in China since 2006 and regarded as one of the top gatherings to feature recent developments in genome sciences. With international thought leaders among its keynote speakers and panelists, as well as breakout sessions on human, plant and animal genomics research, ICG Americas aims to promote research in basic and applied genomics and lay the foundation of a new approach to sequencing and bioinformatics.

The preliminary program is now available. Click here to see our current line-up of dynamic presentations from global industry thought leaders, prominent researchers and top policy makers. Learn about the growing application of next-gen sequencing and advanced bioinformatics in agricultural breeding for enhanced global food production, evolution and diversity studies, biofuel development, drug discovery, and disease research.

Additional highlights include a private tour of the new [email protected] Joint Genome Center and an evening of world-class dining, networking with industry luminaries and live entertainment at the Penn Museum.

REGISTER NOW and save $200! Early-bird special ends May 31st!

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Submit an abstract by July 15 to be considered for the Poster Session as well as a chance to present as the ICG Americas 2012 Abstract Winner!

We hope to see you there!

Improved Targeted Sequencing: A Comprehensive Guide to Amplicon Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Amplicon sequencing is a targeted approach that allows researchers to investigate specific regions of the genome. This technique is routinely used in applications such as variant identification, clinical research, and infectious disease surveillance. The amplicon sequencing process begins by designing primers that flank the regions of interest. The DNA sequences are then amplified through PCR (typically multiplex PCR) to produce amplicons complementary to the targets. RNA targets...

Targeted Sequencing: Choosing Between Hybridization Capture and Amplicon Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Targeted sequencing is an effective way to sequence and analyze specific genomic regions of interest. This method enables researchers to focus their efforts on their desired targets, as opposed to other methods like whole genome sequencing that involve the sequencing of total DNA. Utilizing targeted sequencing is an attractive option for many researchers because it is often faster, more cost-effective, and only generates applicable data. While there are many approaches...
