Bioinformatics Data Analyst IMP/IMBA Vienna
We are looking for a joint/shared Bioinformatics Data Analyst to join the Cochella
(http://www.imp.ac.at/research/resear...ochella-group/) and Bell
(http://www.imba.oeaw.ac.at/research/oliver-bell/) research groups, which focus
on the understanding transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of gene
expression.
Our groups are part of the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) and
the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Science
(IMBA). Both IMBA and IMP are internationally recognized research institutes
that focus on molecular medicine, stem cell research and RNA biology. Science
carried out on campus is absolutely at the top level and we carry a great state-ofthe-
art infrastructure and the top research programs for the different career-level
of scientists. IMBA/IMP are located in the Campus Vienna Biocenter, close to the
city center of Vienna.
As a bioinformatician, you will:
(1) contribute to the interpretation of next generation sequencing project data
(obtained by RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, GRO-Seq and Bisulfite DNA-Seq
amongst others) through the development of workflows and analysis protocols
using relevant algorithms and tools,
(2) investigate and implement analysis solutions to new research problems and
(3) secure the availability of high-throughput data and associated analysis
results to the researchers.
You will have access to a community of experienced bioinformaticians on
campus, and support from a powerful computing cluster and excellent IT
infrastructure.
Successful candidates should hold an academic degree / PhD in Bioinformatics,
Biostatistics or Life Sciences, and several years of experience of
scripting/programming, preferably in the context of genomic high-throughput data
analysis. A sound statistical knowledge and fluent programming skills in
R/Bioconductor and at least one more scripting or high-level programming
language are essential. Applicants need to be proficient with UNIX-like operating
systems. SQL/Database experience is a strong plus.
The job further requires excellent communication skills in English.
We offer an innovative, team oriented, and highly motivated working atmosphere
in an international renowned research institute. The salary is commensurate with
qualifications/experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Applications, including a letter of motivation describing your particular interest in
this position and past research experiences, a CV and the names and contact
details of referees should be sent to:
