  • Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Computational Epigenetics : Oxford, United Kingdom

    Salary: Grade 8: £39,992 - £47,722 p.a.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist in Computational Epigenetics to contribute to the group’s development of epigenetic sequencing technologies and applying them to elucidate epigenetic mechanisms in tumour biology and develop clinical applications in epigenetics.

Recently we developed a novel bisulfite-free and base-resolution sequencing of DNA methylation (bioRxiv doi: 10.1101/307538). It could replace bisulfite sequencing as the new standard in DNA epigenetic analysis. We expect it to revolutionise DNA epigenetic analysis, and to have wide applications in academic research and clinical diagnostics, especially in sensitive low-input samples, such as circulating cell-free DNA and single-cell analysis. This is an exciting opportunity for a bioinformatician to join the team not only to develop new computational tools, but also provides large datasets to develop clinical diagnostics and uncover new biological findings. You will participate in the Ludwig Institute funded research programme at the University of Oxford led by Dr Chunxiao Song.

As a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, you will identify, define and plan new projects which contribute to the overall aims of studies and clinical trials and advise and supervise biostatistical and laboratory staff on a day-to-day basis.

In addition you will conduct detailed analysis of datasets and develop novel methodologies for analysis and data collection in collaboration with members of the research team.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific subject with research experience in academia or industry and have experience and technical expertise in the analysis and managing of largescale NGS genomic data (such as whole-genome sequencing, WGS) or epigenetic data (such as whole-genome bisulfite sequencing, WGBS).

This full-time position is fixed-term for 3 years.

Further particulars, including details of how to apply, can be obtained from the document below. Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application.

The closing date for this position will be 12.00 noon on Friday 22 June 2018.

Advancing Precision Medicine for Rare Diseases in Children
    by seqadmin

Many organizations study rare diseases, but few have a mission as impactful as Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM). “We are all about changing outcomes for children,” explained Dr. Stephen Kingsmore, President and CEO of the group. The institute’s initial goal was to provide rapid diagnoses for critically ill children and shorten their diagnostic odyssey, a term used to describe the long and arduous process it takes patients to obtain an accurate...
