Website Users

Unregistered Website Users

You may use our website, www.seqanswers.com (“website”) as an unregistered user. As an unregistered user, we collect and process:

  • IP addresses, date and time of access, type of web browser, geographic location as determined by users’ IP address, operating system and interface, language and version of browser software, session information (such as download errors and page response times) for the purpose of system administration in analysing such aggregated information to improve the quality and services of our website;
  • if you contact us via our website’s enquiry form, the nature of the communication, your message, your name and your email address in order to both respond to you and improve our services;
  • if you use a blog or forum on our website, any personal information you submit via a blog or forum. Please note that if you submit personal information via a blog or forum, it can be read, collected, or used by other users of these blogs and forums, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. Please note that we are not responsible for any/all personally information you choose to submit in these blogs or forums. To request removal of your personal information from our blog, contact us at [email protected];
  • if you submit a review via our website’s review form, the nature of the review (e.g., in relation to the product/service) in order to both respond and improve our services. We only post customer comments or testimonials on our website that may contain personal information, if you have first consented. We request such consent via e-mail prior to posting the comment or testimonial to post the reviewer’s name along with their comment or testimonial. If you wish to update or delete your testimonial, you can contact us at [email protected]; and
  • if you choose to use our referral service to e-mail a friend an article or blog post from our website, your friend's name and e-mail address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time e-mail inviting them to visit the page you recommended. We store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time e-mail and tracking the success of our referral program. Your friend may contact us at [email protected] to request that we remove this information from our database.

Registered Website Users

If you are a registered user of our website or chose to register with our website, you will be asked to provide the following personal information:

  • first and last name
  • email address
  • company/institution name
  • type of institution (e.g. the respective industry)
  • job position, country where you reside.

We use the personal information set out above to provide you with the services for registered users, verify the legitimacy of your account, to avoid fraudulent accounts being created, provide you with our products, customer support, contact form, marketing materials (if you select during registration – see Explaining More About Marketing for further information), inform you about system issues, comply with legal obligations, and defend, establish and exercise legal claims.

Customers

If you purchase products and/or services from our website, or request a quote via the respective form, you may be asked to provide the following personal information about you:

  • first and last name
  • company/institution name and type (e.g. respective industry)
  • address
  • email address
  • work phone number

We will use the personal information set out above, potentially in conjunction with our trusted partners (for further details about who we share personal information with, see Sharing personal information with others, to process your order or provide an appropriate quote to align with your preferences, deliver the products or services ordered, provide customer care services, provide you with marketing materials as selected by you, to maintain our client relationship management systems, to detect, investigate, report and seek to prevent fraud and anti-money laundering, for example through know-your-customer checks, identity checks, comply with other legal obligations, defend, establish and exercise legal claims.

Participants

From time to time, we may offer contests and sweepstakes in which we request certain personal information from individuals who want to participate in the contest or sweepstake (participants). As a minimum, a participant will be asked to provide their name and email address; and in some cases, we may ask survey questions, the answers of which may include other personal information. This information is used to verify the participant's identity, to send the participant an email notification that their entry has been received, and to contact winners and/or prize recipients. In some instances, we may divulge certain participant personal information to a third party, for example, when a participant expressly chooses to receive additional information from the contest sponsor, in which case the participant's personal information would be disclosed to the relevant advertiser. Please note that any such disclosure is subject to participant consent. All information about each contest is clearly posted on our website during the event. All contests and sweepstakes are conducted in full accordance with laws of the United States of America, any other relevant applicable laws and (where appliable) in accordance with contest/sweepstake terms and conditions.

Business Partners

If you work with us as a business partner or a service provider, we will collect personal information from you, your representative and/or your contact person including:

  • your full name
  • job title
  • email address
  • phone number

While most of the personal information is obtained directly from you, we will collect personal information from other public sources such as credit reference agencies for the purpose of reviewing / assessing your suitability as a business partner or service provider, to comply with our legal obligations, to detect investigate, report, and seek to prevent fraud and anti-money laundering, for example through know-your-customer checks, AML screening and other identity checks and to meet our obligations under any contracts we have with you, we may also need to conduct credit and fraud checks on your business and certain officers of your business, such as directors.

Legal basis for using your personal information

We will only collect, use and share your personal information where we are satisfied that we have an appropriate legal basis to do this. This may be because:

  • we need to use your personal information to perform a contract or take steps to enter into a contract with you, including, for example, to provide you with the information, products and services that you request from us (including from our trusted partners); and/or
