SNP identification in the whole genome

Hi All,
Wish to learn & carryout the whole genome sequence alignment.
Planning to start the things from the raw reads that we will get it from the service providers.
Can anyone guide me where can I be able to get the raw reads of the whole genome?. If I can be able to get the raw reads, then I am planning to process the reads for quality checking and then to go for alignment with the available reference genome.
I am particularly more interested in the livestock species.
