Converting data to bam file

Hello,

I've just recently taken my first course in computational biology. I'm trying to find test data and load it into a genome browser.

I would like to take some data I have found on the HapMap site (http://hapmap.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/downl...dant-filtered/) and convert the txt files into bam files.

I tried this using samtools but it is failing to open the txt file from hapmap.

Is this not as simple a task as I thought it would be?
