Live online Nextflow course (Jan 19–21, 2026): from manual scripts to reproducible pipelines

Many of us start with a “pipeline” as a set of scripts — and then end up babysitting runs manually (copy inputs, rerun steps, rename files, debug, repeat). A workflow engine can help make runs reproducible, restartable, and easier to share.

Value-first mini checklist (good starting point before “workflow-izing”):
    1. Make inputs/outputs explicit for each step (avoid hidden globals).
    2. Separate logic from configuration (params + profiles for local/HPC/cloud).
    3. Design for restartability (clear process boundaries + caching/work dirs).
    4. Pin dependencies (containers / consistent environments).
    5. Keep debugging practical (know where logs/errors surface and how to inspect failures).

    If you’d like a guided, beginner-friendly on-ramp, we’re running a live online workshop:
    • Bioinformatics Pipeline Development with Nextflow
    • Dates: Jan 19–21, 2026 (9:00–17:00 CET)
    • Live online, hands-on; beginner-oriented
    • No installation required: browser-based cloud computer provided
    • Real-time support: assistants can help via chat and see the same in-browser terminal to debug with you
    • Seats: 20 (first-come, first-served)
    • Fee: 989 EUR (excl. VAT)
    • Includes: course materials + certificate

Course page (agenda + registration): Website

Note: We are happy to answer questions here, especially about fit/level or whether Nextflow makes sense for your specific use case.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
