  • Conference - Workshop Comparative and Regulatory Genomics in Plants

The Bioinformatics and Systems Biology division of the Department of Plant Systems Biology (VIB – Ghent University) is organizing a scientific event on 11-15 April 2011 about Comparative & Regulatory Genomics in Plants.

A two-day Conference (11-12 April 2011) will discuss recent advances and future perspectives in plant genomics and will be followed by a Workshop combining lectures with practical sessions covering data integration, comparative genomics and the biological interpretation of large-scale omics datasets (13-15 April 2011).

The conference will discuss the integration of experimental high-throughput data with computational approaches to study gene functions, genome organization and transcriptional regulation. A panel of international invited speakers includes experts in the field of plant next-gen genome sequencing, genome evolution, comparative transcriptomics, ChIP profiling and plant regulatory networks.

More information including invited speakers is available here: http://bioinformatics.psb.ugent.be/crg_event/

    Registration deadline: March 31st 2011
Abstract submission deadline: March 13th 2011

    Best regards,

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
      by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
