  • Pypr: an interface for research data pipelines

Pypr (pronounced "piper") is an intuitive automation tool designed to reduce the overhead of reasearch software engineering. It allows you to visually create data pipelines by capturing the outputs of each program and passing them to the appropriate inputs of downstream programs. Pypr can automatically process your inputs to ensure they conform to the required specifications. For example, you can seamlessly pass a TSV output to any program that accepts a CSV input, eliminating the need for manual format conversion.

These automations do not compromise your control over the details. With the built-in text editor and terminal, you can perform almost any complementary task. Additionally, once you're happy with your pipeline, you can run it anywhere you prefer, from a virtual PC in the cloud to your on-premise HPC.

It's important to note that the development of Pypr is ongoing, and some features are not finalized. We are planning to launch a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter, requesting a small investment in exchange for great perks, such as the ability to self-host Pypr under your own domain and branding! If Pypr piques your interest, please visit Pypr.net and opt in for notifications.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
