  • Hello from Pasadena

    Hello,

My name is Ali. I've had a couple of publications on ChIP-seq and RNA-seq over the last year, which feels like an eternity. Since I see that people are posting here, I thought I'd join the conversation here.

I just finished my PhD in Biology in Barbara Wold's lab at Caltech and I am staying on for a short post-doc. While the computational analyses of NRSF ChIP-seq in Jurkats and of RNA-seq in mouse tissues were parts of my thesis, all of my wet work and much of my analyses remain to be published.

While not a pure bioinformatician, I find myself writing code for months at a time and I try to release as much of it alongside our publications. It's all written in python, which has the right balance of elegance and power for my tastes.

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing how the scientific community migrates from microarrays to sequencers over the coming years!

    Hi Ali,

I just thought I'd say a quick hello and welcome to seqanswers. I'm working on many of the same things you are, and have been trying to keep an eye on the stuff going on in your lab. (When Dr. Wold was here for a talk, several months ago, she spoke very highly of your work, and I've been trying to keep up with it ever since.)

At any rate, congrats on finishing the PhD, and good luck with the post-doc!

    Anthony
