Hi everyone, I am Erik van den Bergh currently working as a PhD student at the university of amsterdam.
I've lurked on these forums for quite a while now and I think that the time is ripe to join now. At the end of summer a big load of NGS data will come my way and I am sure that I will need some help from the people here every now and then.
I have alot of perl programming experience as well as a big heap of experience with linux and bash scripting. I did my master thesis on network visualization using OpenGL, for which I had to learn C++. I thought my basic C skills would get me through; I thought wrong! But in the end the project was a nice achievement.
Right now we are working on genomic comparison of plants that have undergone whole genome duplication.
I hope that I will be able to get good information from these forums as well as help out others in need. If you have any programming or algorithmic questions, ask away!
Erik
