We are looking for a highly energetic, self-motivated individual to join the group of Dr. Subhajyoti De, PhD in the Department of Medicine, University of Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus as a full-time Computational Biologist.

The goal of our group is to understand the basis of genetic and epigenetic abnormalities in different cancer types and other disease conditions, and use that knowledge to improve personalized treatment. We typically use a variety of genomics, bioinformatics and biostatistical approaches, while working in close collaboration with bench scientists, clinicians and biostatisticians. For more details please see here. http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/co...i-De,-PhD.aspx

    Required qualifications
The candidate should have a Masters or PhD in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related areas, and demonstrate evidence of proficiency in one or more of the modern programming languages (e.g. Perl, C++, Java, Python etc.) and a statistical language (R preferred). Knowledge and experience of UNIX / LINUX on an advanced level is required. The individual must have effective communication, team working, problem solving skills, and adaptability to changes in technological and scientific directions.

    Preferred qualifications
Preferences will be given to the candidates who have experience of working with next generation sequencing and microarray datasets, integration of large datasets, and running software on a cluster. Exposure to cancer genomics data is preferred but it is not essential.

University of Colorado School of Medicine offers an excellent salary, benefits package, and also opportunities for career development.

To apply, please email a CV (including publications and at least three references) and a cover letter stating goals to

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
    by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
