Bioinformatics Postdoc Positions in Combined Single Cell Genomics and Transcriptomics

The Chair of Experimental Medicine and Therapy Research, University of Regensburg, and the Fraunhofer Project Group for Personalized Tumor Therapy are building a new center for single cell genomics. The focus will be on the development of novel diagnostic assays and therapies. For this we have developed a variety of single cell techniques and generated a huge sample and databank of single disseminated cancer cells and circulating tumor cells, among them the putative founder cells of lethal metastasis.

We are seeking two qualified and motivated Bioinformaticians (PostDoc) at the earliest possible date.

    Responsibilities include:
You will analyze complex data sets in the area of single cell diagnostics to address different biomedical issues. In close contact with biomedical groups you will develop and implement new analytical processes to analyze high-throughput data. In particular, the major focus of the work will be on the adaptation of existing software routines in conjunction with biostatistical analysis to build up a data analysis pipeline for array CGH, gene expression microarray data and next generation sequencing applications.

    Qualifications and Skills:
You have a Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics or Biology with the main focus on Bioinformatics and/or Biostatistics or an excellent master degree in Bioinformatics. You are well-experienced in at least one script language and an additional programming language. Additional experience in statistical programming with R and the analysis of NGS- and Microarray data, e.g. from RNA-Seq, Targeted Re-Seq, Gene Expression Profiling or Array-CGH will be an advantage.

We are offering an interesting environment in an innovative area of biomedical research and the opportunity to participate in the establishment of a centre for single cell diagnostics together with the Fraunhofer Project Group for Personalized Tumor Therapy. The projects are funded by a 5-year ERC advanced grant and the Bavarian Ministry of Trade. The positions offer ample career perspectives in basic and translational research.

Employment, compensation and social benefits comply with the “Collective Labor Agreement of the Civil Service” (E13). The position is initially limited to 2 years, but excellent work can lead to an extended employment for up to 5 years.
Qualified applicants with a disability will be given preference.
Equal opportunities are part of our personnel policy.

Interested candidates should apply with a cover letter, CV, publication list, educational certification and 2 letters of recommendation to:

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
