  • Bioinformatics Applications Specialist

    A position is available for a highly motivated bioinformatics programmer and applications specialist in the Genomics Core of the Center for Genomics and Systems Biology, New York University. The Genomics Core provides access to and expertise in next generation sequencing and other genomics technology for faculty in the Department of Biology and at NYU's Washington Square campus.
    The successful applicant will be responsible for addressing the bioinformatics needs of the Genomics Core facility. This will include ensuring processing, storage, and delivery of data from next generation sequencing runs (Illumina and Ion Torrent platforms), and responding to the day-to-day bioinformatics requests from researchers. Strong computational abilities to manipulate large datasets are essential as well as a working knowledge and expertise in certain well-known bioinformatics applications. The applicant will be working as part of a team-based effort to support the research and teaching of the Center.
    Applicants should have:
    (1) A detailed knowledge of next generation sequence data analysis.
    (2) An ability to work with an interdisciplinary team.
    (3) Good spoken and written English.
