  • Seeking Computational Biologist/Bioinformaticist

The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Computational Biologist/Bioinformaticist to assist with the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data and microarray data (ChIP-seq, ChIP-chip), and with computational approaches to solving biological problems.

Responsibilities include writing code and developing solutions to computational problems, and developing and/or maintaining software for analyzing biological data.

In addition to excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively function in a team-oriented environment, the successful candidate will have knowledge and interest in biology, statistics, and genomics, or familiarity with R and Bioconductor packages.

A Ph.D. in molecular biology, or doctorate in another science and experience with genome technologies, is required for this position. Familiarity with Linux environment and experience with a scripting language such as PERL, Python, or with R and Bioconductor packages is also required.

Individuals seeking postdoctoral opportunities in computational analysis of high-throughput sequencing data and microarray data are highly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should send a resume, transcripts and two letters of recommendation to [email protected] or:

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
    by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
