3-year Postdoctoral Research position in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, University of Oxford, UK
Grade 7: Starting salary within the range of £27,466 - £33,780 (pay review due 1st October 2008)
This is a full-time post for three years in the first instance funded by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology – Global Research Programme, and is available as soon as practicable. The grant holder is Prof Nicholas Harberd, and the successful applicant will be under his immediate direction. The project is a collaboration with Dr Ioannis Ragoussis and Prof Richard Mott at the University of Oxford Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, and involves a stimulating mix of high-throughput sequencing, statistical analysis, bioinformatics and computer programming.
The group’s interests focus on genetic/genomic approaches to the comparative study of plant growth regulation in several model plants. In addition, the group is taking a genomic approach to the study of evolution and adaptation in wheat. The essential role of this position is to apply bioinformatic analyses to genomic studies of wheat evolution and adaptation. Computational data-analysis skills will be key to successful performance in this position, previous experience of plant/wheat molecular biology is less important.
Further particulars may be downloaded from http://www.plants.ox.ac.uk and are also available from the Administrator.
Applications including curriculum vitae, name and contact details of two referees and quoting post reference no.
