Description of research group and project

We have long interests in developing simple and simpler NGS technologies and associated informatics algorithms for Precision Medicine. Some of these innovations and informatics pipelines have been applied in clinics; discovered novel therapeutic targets while serving as robust assays for genetic profiling across various types of clinical samples to guide treatments. We have also developed methods for characterizing and improving CRISPR genome editing off-target, an important issue to address towards its clinical applications.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with proven strong records to join our team to work on functional genomics projects. We are interested in studying the relation between phenotypes and genotypes at both a global level and defined pathways, using novel NGS, CRISPR and informatics approaches on large scale single-cell studies. The positions will be based in the inspiring environment in Hong Kong Science Park. Specific responsibility and requirement are:

One postdoc position in Molecular Biology

Responsibility: To design single-cell NGS/CRISPR assays and carry out the experiments for studying phenotypes and genotypes relations.

    Requirements:
Completion of a PhD or an equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or relevant fields.
A proven record in renowned publications.
Experience in NGS and/or CRISPR is preferred.
Applicant should be highly motivated and a good team player.
Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.

One postdoc position in Computational Biology

Responsibility: To lead the development of computational algorithms for analyzing NGS data from single-cell and CRISPR experiments.

    Requirements:
Completion of a PhD or an equivalent degree in Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or relevant fields.
A proven record in renowned publications.
Strong programming skills in Python or C/C++, and R.
Applicant should be highly motivated and a good team player.
Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.

    The employments

These are a two-year fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal.

The assignments are located at MWLC, Hong Kong, and the employment will follow local labour laws in Hong Kong.

A competitive remuneration package with MPF and pension contributing up to a total of 10% over basic salary and medical benefits will be offered.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
    by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
