  • Bioinformatics Programmer at Ambry Genetics

    Ambry Genetics is seeking to hire a full time Bioinformatics Programmer.

    Roles and responsibilities:
    The candidate will interact with the R&D and Genomics divisions and help develop and utilize programs to collect, store, manage, analyze and report biological sequencing data. The candidate will work with scientists and technicians to identify needs and develop new applications, and work with IT personnel to identify and resolve system performance issues.

    Required skills and experience:
    Candidates should have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biology or a related field with practical experience analyzing sequencing data. The preferred candidate would also be familiar with the concepts of molecular biology and genomics.
    Preferred experiences:
    • Work experience with Unix, Perl, Python, Java, SQL, XML, Unix shell scripting, especially strong programming skills in Perl or Python.
    • At least 2 years practical experience in analyzing sequencing data, desirably next-gen sequencing.
    • Familiarity with the concepts of molecular biology and genomics.
    • Motivated to work full time on sequencing projects using bioinformatics tools, and willing to learn new relevant skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment of a fast-moving genetic service company.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
