    Problems installing kisSNP

    Hi all,

    I'm trying to install and run the kisSNP software.

    I’ve downloaded and installed the kisSNP suite as explained at the kisSNP website, and I try to run the program with;

    ./kisSnp1.0/kisSnp_two_sets

    However, I get the following error;
    ./kisSnp1.0/kisSnp_two_sets: error while loading shared libraries: libJudy.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    The libJudy.so.1 is present in my $PATH at ‘/usr/lib/libJudy.so.1’ and is also present in the kisSNP package.

    I've asked the developer, but he is on holidays for two weeks, so in the meanwhile i try it here

    Any thoughts?

    Kind regards,
    Boetsie

    The libjudy location should be present in your "$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" and not only in your "$PATH".
    You may overcome this problem with the following command: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib/libJudy.so.1

      Reply to Nine Things a Sample Prep Scientist Thinks About Before Sequencing

      Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.

      Nine Things a Sample Prep Scientist Thinks About Before Sequencing
      by SEQadmin2

      I’m not a sequencing expert. I’m a purification scientist who uses NGS to evaluate workflows my group develops. With this perspective, we think about the sample first and the NGS workflow second. The sequencer is an exceptionally honest reporter, but it can only report on what you give it, so whether you get clean, interpretable data from an NGS workflow is largely determined before you begin.

      Here are nine questions we think about, in roughly the order they matter, before...
