    Local BLAST: How to parse the "non matching" elements ?

    Hello,

    i have two sets of miRNAs from two different tissues, sequenced with a 454. Now i need do find differences between the two sets, namely the same elements but in particularry wich miRNA is in one set and not in the other. So i made a local blast and found all the similarity. My question is if is it possible to parse in the result file only the non matching element. Is there any way to do this ??

    Certainly it is possible. You didn't mention what type of system you are using but, assuming that it is Unix-based or at least has unix tools then saving the blast output in the tabular format and then using a combination of 'cut', 'uniq', and 'diff' on your files will get you the non-matching elements. Workflows in Galaxy will do the same.
