compiling bamtools issue: zlib.h not found

I am getting this error:

[ 4%] Building CXX object src/api/CMakeFiles/BamTools.dir/internal/BgzfStream_p.cpp.o /project/youngn/zhoup/Source/bamtools/src/api/internal/BgzfStream_p.cpp:20:18: error: zlib.h: No such file or directory

What can I do to tell cmake to look for zlib.h in my custom library (e.g., /usr/local/include) ? thanks a lot!

Its a compression library. Do you have administrative rights? If so go here to download the package and follow instructions in README/INSTALL files (usually) to install. If not, you'll have to ask your administrator to do it for you.
