  • how do i get multiple sequences?

    Hi to you all,

    i have a list of 242 accession numbers of proteins. i need their sequences protein sequences as well as their genomic. how can i do it not one by one? thanks in advance

    I think you can do this in UCSC browser.

      You could also do this via an online database like the NCBI via their Entrez API - which you can call from a scripting language quite easily. For example BioPerl and Biopython both have code to help with this. Depending on your skill set, you could probably do this with Unix command line tools (e.g. a loop using wget).

        If you are primarily a biologist then you may find the BioMart tool in Ensembl friendly.



        You can use the Central portal at: http://central.biomart.org/ (Sequence retrieval tool).

        BioMart is also accessible via Ensembl: http://www.ensembl.org/biomart/martview. Links for tutorial and online help: http://www.ensembl.org/info/data/biomart.html
