newbler2.7 GUI does not show on ubuntu

I followed http://seqanswers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8944 to have installed newbler 2.7 on ubuntu 12. All looks good until I run ./gsAssembler under /opt/454/bin. The GUI appeared for 2 seconds and then it's gone, while on the terminal ./gsAssembler is still hanging ...

Other than that, runAssembly runs fine on the command line. I just don't understand why all the command line tools are under apps/mapper/bin/, although that seems not to be a problem ...

Here all versions of Roche suite are running fine, Ubuntu 12.04, 64bit.

Installation isn't that complex anymore, so what have you really done to install the software?

This is probably a conflict with java; I have seen this behaviour when I used java 7 with the software.
But this shouldn't apply to standard installations, as Roche provides its own java and I had altered the shell wrappers to use another java.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
      by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
      by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
