    Estimating the rate of SNPs

    Hi all,
    Does anyone know how to estimate the rate of SNPs for a genome of interest in genome regions (introns, exons, ..etc) using dbSNP?

    Not sure what you mean by "rate of SNPs" - number of SNPs in a region of interest? Rate at which they accumulate over time?
    dbSNP is probably not your friend in either case (lots of false positives, not really a random sample of any population....). I'd suggest 1000 Genomes data as a better place to start (1000Genomes.org)

      Thanks brofallon for your suggestion. Yes what I meant by rate is the number of SNPs in each genomic regions. I will try your suggestion and use 1000Genomes.org.
