    hi all,

where can I download eland program? I can find all the other mapping software source code on the internet, but I just can not find eland. Is eland a free software? If anyone know where I can have it, please kindly let me know. Thank you very much.

AFAIK, written by Solexa, for Solexa purchasers...although I'm surprised it's not open sourced.

      ... im so predictable -

Eland comes with the illumina pipeline software in source code form - you need to buy a machine to get it and the license prohibits redistribution (I wrote it) - tried to open source the whole lot but it was considered legally too risky.

have a look at MaQ on sourceforge (from Sanger) - in many ways better if a bit slower.

Thanks guys. Now I know why I can not get it. I already have Maq, I should explore it more.

Hope someday someone can write a program faster than eland and make it open source, or commercially independently available, not bound to a expensive machine.

              Have you tried MyriAlign ?

I called the illumina technical support and she said that we can get Eland software as a indirect customer, if we do not own the machine but use the service. However, they do not provide training to indirect customer. Anybody know how hard it is to run the software without the training? Thanks!

You could also try a new read aligner i've found at www.novocraft.com. It's apparently very fast and uses quality information as well.

The human gut contains trillions of microorganisms that impact digestion, immune functions, and overall health1. Despite major breakthroughs, we’re only beginning to understand the full extent of the microbiome’s influence on health and disease. Advances in next-generation sequencing and spatial biology have opened new windows into this complex environment, yet many questions remain. This article highlights two recent studies exploring how diet influences microbial...
