Online course - Introduction to Deep Learning for Biologists

    Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the online course “Introduction to Deep Learning for Biologists”, which will take place from 3–7 November.

    Course website: https://www.physalia-courses.org/cou...hops/course67/

This course will introduce the theoretical foundations and practical applications of deep learning models in biology. Participants will learn how to build and evaluate Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for real-world classification, regression, and image segmentation problems. The program also covers essential statistical learning concepts such as model evaluation, cross-validation, overfitting, and generalizability.

Through a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions, attendees will gain practical experience using Python and Jupyter Notebooks to apply deep learning techniques to biological datasets.

This course is ideal for advanced students, researchers, and professionals who want to understand how deep learning can be applied to biological data analysis—no prior experience with deep learning is required.

    Course page and registration: https://www.physalia-courses.org/cou...hops/course67/

    Best regards,
    Carlo

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating

New Genomics Technologies Take Aim at Long-Standing Limits
    by SEQadmin2

Researchers using sequencing and genomics tools often have to make trade-offs. They can choose between speed or scale, short reads or long-range information, or targeted panels or a view of the whole transcriptome. New technologies that have been released this year are built to address those tough choices.

We asked six companies the same four questions to learn about their latest products. The new technologies bring a lot to the table, including rethinking sequencing
