  • Genetic map viewer

    Dear Friends,
I spent one complete week in installation of CMap in my Ubuntu system. Installation is successful, but, i couldn't able to open the maps. Clicking on maps resulting in "The requested URL /cmap/cgi-bin/cmap/viewer was not found on this server". I searched lot online and ended in vain after attempting all those tactics, i completely fed up this tool. After long a search i got Cview, but, my apache server is not compatible with this tool. Please refer me optimum tool to show markers on chromosomes for my database or help me to sort problems with CMap tool. Not only in CMap, i hope people also face same problem in Gbrowse. Thanks in advance.

    Sincerely,
    Ramesh

    Hi Ramesh,

try Strudel -- http://bioinf.hutton.ac.uk/strudel/. It's easy to install as it comes with prebuilt installers for all major platforms. It uses its own data format, which will cost you a little bit of time at the start, but you can put together a datafile in a spreadsheet prgram fairly quickly, or write some code that outputs it it for you.

    cheers

    Micha

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
