    tophat error IndexError: list index out of range

    I am getting the following error when I run tophat

    [2014-03-07 16:44:48] Checking for Bowtie
    Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "/home/yelab/leanne/bin/tophat", line 3900, in ?
    sys.exit(main())
    File "/home/yelab/leanne/bin/tophat", line 3705, in main
    check_bowtie(params)
    File "/home/yelab/leanne/bin/tophat", line 1381, in check_bowtie
    bowtie_version = get_bowtie_version(params.bowtie2)
    File "/home/yelab/leanne/bin/tophat", line 1264, in get_bowtie_version
    bowtie_version = [int(x) for x in ver_numbers[:3]] + [int(ver_numbers[3][4:])]
    IndexError: list index out of range

    I don't have any idea how to fix it so any help would be greatly appreciated!! when I search the error alot of python help sites come up so I am wondering if that may be an indirect issue?

    Again thanks for any help!

    Are you using the latest versions of both tophat and bowtie2 currently available? There was a known incompatibility with a recent previous version of TopHat and Bowtie2, which was resolved this week.

      I updated both tophat and that appeared to fix the problem. I was wondering though if there was a way to use the latest version of tophat and bowtie 1. I have tried and it always results in error.

      Thanks again for your help

        16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
        by SEQadmin2

        NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

        Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
        by SEQadmin2

        Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

        Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
