bedtools installation on ubuntu

I can not seem to install bedtools on ubuntu.

Here are the steps I am doing.

 sudo apt-get install zlib

 sudo apt-get install zlib-devel

 sudo apt-get install bedtools

And what are the errors you are encountering?

someone log into ubuntu as a guest, so sudo apt-get didn't have rights. I log in as admin and everything is fine on the install.

I am running bedtools 2.17.0 and using the mergeBed command I get an error that says comand not found

 mergeBed -i hgTables.bed > merged.bed
