  • Uploading BAM files to EGA

    Hi all,

    I need to upload several BAM-files to the EGA archive.
    However, the Webin Uploader tool is down, and the EGA helpdesk advised to encrypt my files locally and then transfer them using FTP. However, you still need the Webin uploader to create the md5 sums.
    Could you point out whether there is another way of creating the wanted md5's (either on Linux/Ubuntu or Windows), so that I can use FTP to send the files?

    Thanks in advance,
    Lien

    If you just need to create md5 sums then the command on ubuntu would be:

    Code:
    $ md5sum filename > filename.md5

      Thanks, but is this enough for the EGA website? Because it needs to create extra files containing these md5 sums.

        Sorry can't help you there. Perhaps someone else experienced with EGA upload process can chime in.

        If you are trying to upload controlled-access data (and parts of the upload mechanism are not working, sounds like they are not) then it may be best to wait.

          Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
          by seqadmin

          Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
