    MAQ versions...

Hello I'm doing a benchmarking study on mapping quality for my thesis and I'm having problems with maq its mapping 25bp and 100bp reads but not 50bp or 75bp reads for some reason. I'm still trying to figure out what is going on but I've noticed something strange:

If I compile the latest build (0.7.1) myself I get an exe file that is 800kb, but if you do sudo apt-get install maq, the bin file is 240kb? I've been using the version that you can install from ubuntu but I thought they should be the same? Has anybody heard of issues between these versions?

Quite possibly the Ubuntu binary is compiled without debug symbols and with different compiler optimisations - there are lots of reasons why the size could differ even if the same source code was used.

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
      by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating

New Genomics Technologies Take Aim at Long-Standing Limits
      by SEQadmin2

Researchers using sequencing and genomics tools often have to make trade-offs. They can choose between speed or scale, short reads or long-range information, or targeted panels or a view of the whole transcriptome. New technologies that have been released this year are built to address those tough choices.

We asked six companies the same four questions to learn about their latest products. The new technologies bring a lot to the table, including rethinking sequencing
