We would like to test and design fungal primers for the ITS1 regions. However the UNITE database which has a nice reference set of the ITS1/ITS2 reference sequences does not include the flanking 18S region.
My question is if there is a database that has the entire region contained within the 18S and 28S flanking region, including these genes as well?
I understand that I could just make the sequences myself by downloading all of the reference from NCBI and concatenating them with the appropriate entries in the UNITE set. However since NCBi is not curated, doing this runs the risk of stitching together wrong sequences.
