Items for comparison between NGS viewers.

    Dear,

At the moment, I am making a report about the comparison of different NGS Viewers.

    My question is:

Do you know items or subjects at which I can compare all those NGS viewers with each other for my report?

    Thank you for your help!

    Homework?

There is an out of date comparison here - note that all these tools have been updated since:
I gathered up some of the recent free next generation sequence viewers that were capabale of viewing BAM files - and put each through the m...

There was a great paper in a Nature Methods supplement last year on genome browsing and browsers: Visualizing genomes: techniques and challenges by Nielsen et al. This is part of a whole supplement on Visualizing Biological Data.

        Thanks!

        Dear,

        Thanks for your help!

I also have names of other NGS viewers.

        Shall I mention them here?

sure, any information is appreciated. Especially the pros and cons for these viewers and your favorite one.

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.

I’m not a sequencing expert. I’m a purification scientist who uses NGS to evaluate workflows my group develops. With this perspective, we think about the sample first and the NGS workflow second. The sequencer is an exceptionally honest reporter, but it can only report on what you give it, so whether you get clean, interpretable data from an NGS workflow is largely determined before you begin.

Here are nine questions we think about, in roughly the order they matter, before...
