    12th Annual Bio-IT World Conference & Expo

Since its debut in 2002, the annual Bio-IT World Conference & Expo has established itself as a premier event showcasing the myriad applications of IT and informatics to biomedical research and the drug discovery enterprise. The 2013 program will feature compelling talks from industry and academia on new trends in data generation, knowledge management, and information technology in life sciences and drug development, including best practice case studies and joint partner presentations relevant to the technologies, research, and regulatory issues of life science, pharmaceutical, clinical and IT professionals. Bio-IT World Conference & Expo continues to expand with the addition of two new Tracks: Data Visualization and Clinical Omics.

Spanning three days, the meeting includes 12 parallel conference tracks:
    • IT Infrastructure – Hardware
    • Software Development
    • Cloud Computing
    • Bioinformatics
    • Next-Generation Sequencing Informatics
    • Systems Pharmacology
    • eClinical Trials Solutions
    • Data Visualization and Exploration Tools
    • Drug Discovery Informatics
    • Clinical Omics
    • Collaborations and Open Access Innovations
    • Cancer Informatics

In addition, the conference will feature a plenary panel presentation, in which a select group of CIOs from big pharma, academia and government discuss the major issues facing today’s biosciences organization and the prospects for future growth and organizational success.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
