  • Cofactor Genomics De Novo Assembly Webinar - May 31st

Cofactor Genomic's next webinar will focus on Cofactor's De Novo Assembly advances and take place on Friday, May 31st at 12:00 PM CST. From the beginning, our team has been developing and refining our approach to assembly. Every year Cofactor spends a minimum of 20% of its scientist's time and more than a million dollars in expenses related to testing and optimizing our discovery solutions to identify the best approach to move from raw DNA/RNA to candidates. Our services are the result of this testing and optimization.

Dr. David Messina, Director of Bioinformatics, will present on advances Cofactor has made in De Novo assembly and compare our pipeline to the industry standard. Cofactor's libraries optimized for high GC percentage genomes and advanced gap closure techniques have led to some of the highest contiguity in the industry.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
