Live Online GWAS Workshop for Evolutionary Biology | 9–13 November 2026 | PR Stats

LIVE ONLINE COURSE: Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) for Evolutionary Biology (GWAS01)

    Only 5 places left!

    Dates: 9–13 November 2026
    Duration: 25 hours (5 days)
    Instructor: Dr Nikolay Oskolkov
Format: Live online, with recordings available
    Registration fee: £400

PR Stats is pleased to announce an upcoming practical workshop on Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), designed for researchers working in evolutionary biology, population genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, and related disciplines.

The course provides hands-on training in GWAS methodologies, taking participants from genomic data processing and quality control through association testing, population structure analysis, meta-analysis, and polygenic prediction.

    Topics covered include:
    • Genotype phasing and imputation using PHASEIT2 and IMPUTE2
    • Genotype quality control and filtering
    • Association testing using PLINK and SNPTEST
    • GWAS meta-analysis using GWAMA and METAL
    • Next-generation sequencing workflows with GATK
    • Population structure analysis and PCA
    • Manhattan plots and LocusZoom visualisation
    • Polygenic risk scores and missing heritability

The course combines theoretical foundations with practical exercises and real-world genomic datasets.

All sessions will be recorded, allowing participants in different time zones to follow the course. Recordings will remain accessible for 30 days after the course.

    Full course details and registration:
GWAS for Evolutionary Biology: learn genome-wide association studies, quantitative trait analysis & genomic methods for evolutionary data.

Please feel free to share this announcement with colleagues, research groups, laboratories, students, and anyone working in evolutionary genomics or related fields.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
