    HitSeq 2011 Call for Papers & Abstracts

    HiTSeq 2011: Conference on High Throughput Sequencing and Algorithms
    http://www.hitseq.org July 15-16, 2011 in Vienna, Austria (prior to
    ISMB)

    Call for Papers (with Bioinformatics journal) and Abstracts

    Key Dates:

    • Paper submission deadline: March 1st
    • Paper acceptance notification: March 25th
    • Abtract submission deadline: May 16th
    • Oral/Poster presentation decision: May 27th

    Overview:
    The Conference on High Throughput Sequencing and Algorithms (HiTSeq
    2011) will be held prior to the ISMB conference. HiTSeq follows the
    successful Short-SIG meetings at Boston (220 attendees) Stockholm (200
    attendees) and Toronto (120 attendees), and will bring together
    biologists and computational scientists interested in exploring the
    challenges and opportunities in the analysis of high-throughput
    sequencing (HTS) data.

    HiTSeq 2010 welcomes submissions on any topic related to high
    throughput sequencing technologies including the anticipated 3rd
    generation sequencing platforms. We are especially interested in
    presentations describing methodology to infer various polymorphisms
    (SNPs, larger insertions/deletions, copy number variants), methods for
    analysis of RNA sequencing data (RNA expression, de-novo transcriptome
    sequencing, novel transcript discovery), and other applications of HTS
    (transcription factor binding site discovery, nucleosome positioning,
    methylation profiling, analysis of metagenomic samples, and
    tumor/normal paired sample studies). We are also interested in
    algorithms that take full advantage of long reads and rich kinetic
    information inherent with real-time detection from 3rd generation
    sequencing data, with application to de novo assembly, structural
    variation, haplotyping, and fast viral screening. Given the different
    error models and throughput of short read and expected 3rd generation
    platforms, their coexistence and combination may be effective to
    address a number of biological problems. Algorithms that integrate
    multiple read types with their different properties will be of
    interest for the conference.

    Papers:
    We are soliciting high-quality papers that will go through rigorous
    peer-review. Accepted papers will be presented at HiTSeq as either
    posters or talks, and will be published in a special proceedings
    section of the Bioinformatics journal. Furthermore, Bioinformatics and
    Oxford University Press are offering a $700 prize or open access
    charge waiver for the best paper presented at the meeting. Papers
    requiring extensive revisions will be considered separately as
    abstract presentations at the SIG and as regular papers for the
    Bioinformatics journal. All manuscripts should be submitted via the
    Bioinformatics online submission system at
    http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/bioinformatics. During submission
    please specify HiTSeq as one of the keywords, and include a cover
    letter stating the manuscript should be considered for the HiTSeq
    conference.

    Authors of papers that were submitted, but not selected, for the main
    ISMB conference may submit an updated version of their ISMB paper with
    the full ISMB reviews and a response to the reviewers for HiTSeq
    consideration by March 23rd. They will be notified of any decision by

    Abstracts:
    Simultaneously HiTSeq also allows for the submission of abstracts,
    which will be evaluated independently for the conference proceedings.
    The abstracts should target topics of immediate relevance in the
    field. To be considered for an oral presentation the material should
    not have been previously published in any journal or proceedings.
    Abstracts (maximum 2 pages long) are to be submitted as attachments to
    [email protected] in plain text or Word format.

    Oral/Poster presentations:
    Presentations at HiTSeq may be either plenary talks or a poster at the
    conference poster session. The final decisions whether each paper or
    abstract is presented as a talk or a poster will be made by May 27th.

    Abstract deadline extended

    The HiTSeq Abstract deadline has been extended to May 18th.

    HiTSeq welcomes abstract submissions that target topics of immediate relevance in the field. Presentations at HiTSeq may be either plenary talks or a poster at the conference poster session. To be considered for an oral presentation the material should not have been previously published in any journal or proceedings. Please submit abstracts via e-mail to [email protected] in MS Word or plain text format by May 18th. In your e-mail you should specify all authors, as well as if you wish for your poster to be considered for a talk. The final decisions whether each abstract is presented as a talk or a poster will be made by May 27th.

      HiTSeq 2011 Call for Late Breaking Posters
      ====================

      We already have >200 registrants for HiTSeq 2011, and are looking forward to a successful meeting in Vienna next month. HiTSeq will feature a poster session (with refreshments sponsored by Ion Torrent) with posters targeting topics of immediate
      relevance to High Throughput Sequencing. A similar poster session last
      year was a big success, and we are hoping that many of the HiTSeq
      attendees will use this opportunity to present their work to their
      colleagues and to network. We have opened an additional call for
      late-breaking posters for all HiTSeq attendees.

      Please submit abstracts via e-mail to [email protected] in MS Word or plain
      text format by June 30th for inclusion in the conference abstract book.
