    Forthcoming NGS Channel on BitesizeBio

    Hi all,
Just introduced myself over at 'Introductions' forum.

We plan to build the NGS Channel on our site into an invaluable web resource for beginners and experts alike- as well as build and maintain a relationship with SEQanswers

We've got a main writer lined up, but I'm really keen to hear from others who would like to contribute. We pay standard freelance rates starting at around $15 to $25/article. I've got a initial list of topics ready to go

We have some of the main NGS companies already interested in sponsorship, but, again, I'm always keen to hear from other companies who would like to be involved.

If interested, just drop me a note! Pop over to BitesizeBio- register for the Channels and we'll keep you updated with developments,

    Cheers,
    Martin

"$15 to $25/article" sounds very low and hardly standard freelance rates unless the articles are very short. What is meant by an article here?

      Hi Kopi-o,
Sorry, I should have said that, yes, the articles are very short. I also did say that the rates start at $15 to $25/article. As our site name suggests, we're all about 'Bitesize'- small articles (around 500 words, sometimes less, sometimes more) in a chatty style with a 'nugget' of information.
      Thanks for your reply,
      Best wishes,
      Martin

Just to clarify as multiple people have asked me. BsB has asked for and I have granted permission to post this. They are good people.

If this seems more appropriate in the Jobs forum I'm happy to move it there.

          Hi Martin,

Thanks, that makes more sense. I was thinking more along the lines of regular newspaper/magazine articles. Should have checked the site out first :-)

            Thanks ECO!

Kopi-o, no worries I hope you check out the site and re-visit as the NGS Channel builds.

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.

Nine Things a Sample Prep Scientist Thinks About Before Sequencing
              by SEQadmin2

I’m not a sequencing expert. I’m a purification scientist who uses NGS to evaluate workflows my group develops. With this perspective, we think about the sample first and the NGS workflow second. The sequencer is an exceptionally honest reporter, but it can only report on what you give it, so whether you get clean, interpretable data from an NGS workflow is largely determined before you begin.

Here are nine questions we think about, in roughly the order they matter, before...
