Yeah, that too. But to stay on topic, 100 HiSeq 2000s will be in HK. This will make HK the sequencing capital of the world!

Do we really need 60x coverage for genome sequencing???

Who in HK is buying 100 HiSeq instruments? I did read the press release that BGI are buying 128 HiSeqs but they are based in Shenzhen, which is in mainland China?

Oh, I've re-read the press release and I see that they are installing the machines in Hong Kong Science Park:

Yeah i noticed the discrepancy as well?
is it some vandalism to put in false numbers?

I think the source url should be put in the spreadsheet as reference

I can be added as a HYPERLINK to the number, like this:

                =HYPERLINK ( "http://www3.appliedbiosystems.com/cms/groups/global_marketing_group/documents/generaldocuments/cms_078637.pdf" ; 100)

Then it will be clickable when seen in a website:

                Cheers

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
                  by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
                  by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
