    New rapid genome sequencing technique?

Hello! The title of an article I saw at genomeweb was: "McGill University Team Develops Rapid Genome Sequencing Technique for Outbreak Monitoring"

Unfortunately, it requires a 3-month $95 subscription for access to the article. Does anyone know if they are developing a new NGS technology, or if they just tweaked an existing one?

It doesn't appear that any "new technology" was used. Essentially, they use 150X150bp Miseq (to save time versus longer reads) as well as PacBio runs coupled with some previously developed library prep techniques.

Here is an article from the McGill Genome Centre website that may related to this story as at least one author is the same (Ken Dewar):

I haven't had to pay yet for a Genome Web account. I think I registered a number of months ago and have to sign in to read stories.

      Thanks for the info.

By the way - using my gmail account to login, genomeweb.com prompts me to pay to read certain articles. I made a new account with my .edu email, and now I have access to a lot of stuff including the articles I originally had to pay for to see!
