  • Genomics sequencing of COVID-19 sample

    Hello,

Does anyone know where I could do a Sequencing of a positive Covid test, to find out the variant.
I am located in Las Vegas, NV.

    Thank you.

Nicolas Paz I'm not aware of anyone providing that service. I know there are labs doing sequencing on COVID patients, but I doubt they allow individuals to submit samples. There are lab service providers that will sequence these types of samples, but they're doing large amounts of sequencing for companies. I think you would have to contact them directly and see if your samples could be part of someone's run. It will be more difficult since it is biohazardous material.

Could you give me some examples of that laboratories? I will try to contact them

Well you could contact your health department and see if they're still doing sequencing of variants: https://dpbh.nv.gov/uploadedFiles/dp...07-02-2021.pdf

Or you could contact different companies that are doing sequencing and see if you can put your sample into a run. Not sure if they'll let you but I guess you can try. You can search for more but the only one I found from a quick search was Zymo: https://www.zymoresearch.com/pages/c...encing-service

I'm not sure on how easy this process will be but good luck.

Improved Targeted Sequencing: A Comprehensive Guide to Amplicon Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Amplicon sequencing is a targeted approach that allows researchers to investigate specific regions of the genome. This technique is routinely used in applications such as variant identification, clinical research, and infectious disease surveillance. The amplicon sequencing process begins by designing primers that flank the regions of interest. The DNA sequences are then amplified through PCR (typically multiplex PCR) to produce amplicons complementary to the targets. RNA targets...

Targeted Sequencing: Choosing Between Hybridization Capture and Amplicon Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Targeted sequencing is an effective way to sequence and analyze specific genomic regions of interest. This method enables researchers to focus their efforts on their desired targets, as opposed to other methods like whole genome sequencing that involve the sequencing of total DNA. Utilizing targeted sequencing is an attractive option for many researchers because it is often faster, more cost-effective, and only generates applicable data. While there are many approaches...
