M13 primer confusion!

Hi!
I hope someone can help me with this new found interest, DNA sequencing!
I have heard about M13 primer, but I am not sure of what it is or how/when to use it?? Can someone please help me or guide me?

M13 primer often is used to sequence or amplify DNA insert from vectors which have M13 primer sequence. This way one can sequence a cloned DNA fragment without knowing the insert sequences.
