I have read in various places (mostly their literature) that Fluidigm "eliminates costly titration steps" in next generation sequencing. I am unclear exactly how their technology really helps. Are they just using the SlingShot to get a better estimate of the copy number for titration? If this is the case, it hardly seems like a time or cost savings. http://www.fluidigm.com/applications/slingshot.html
Having not run a clonal/ePCR next gen sequencing reaction I don't know to what degree this is a problem and if this SlingShot would help. Is there anyone out there that does do this titration regularly and feels this would help or is this just another marketing gimmick?
