Memory usage

Hi all,

I've installed ABySS and Google Sparsehash. When I want to run ABySS it runs the first half hour on 95-100% CPU but after that it drops again to a 2-3% CPU. Does anybody know why this happens and maybe how I can solve this?

I typically see this on linux machines if I exhaust all physical memory (top reports ~ 80 mb free). How much memory does your machine have?
