    Hello everybody

    This is my first post on this forum, and I want to introduce myself briefly.
    I am originally a molecular biologist, and I switched to bioinformatics 3 years ago.
    At the moment, I am principally using Galaxy to analyse datasets (NGS) that are submitted to me; but I also used R and python/biopython to personalize a cdf file for an affymetrix chip analysis.
    I am working in Montpellier, France, in a research center devoted to cancer research.

    Data variability is still an issue in sequencing technologies despite the advances in reproducibility and accuracy of these platforms. But the problem does not originate in the sequencing itself, but in the previous steps, before the sample reaches the sequencer.

    The first step is collection, followed by preservation and sample preparation for analysis. Most scientists overlook those steps, but not being careful might just be skewing the experiment’s results.
