    • Working with postdoctoral fellows to build informatics pipelines for analyzing large amounts of Illumina RNA- and ChIP-Seq data, as well as 454 metagenomic data
    • Developing custom scripts to conduct analyses designed by lab members
    • Managing several compute nodes in collaboration with NYU’s Health Informatics and Bioinformatics HPC cluster team
    • Thoroughly documenting code and logging work done to ensure reproducibility of results
    • Building graphical user interfaces which allow lab members to access their results efficiently

    • Familiarity with widely-used bioinformatics tools (e.g. BLAST, BWA, Bowtie/TopHat, Cufflinks, SAMTools, Newbler, and MACS)
    • Knowledge of systems administration and networking
    • A background in biology, especially immunology
    • Experience writing highly-parallel code for a cluster
    • Experience working with git or another version control system, especially in the context of collaborative development
    • Strong interpersonal/communication skills; you’ll be following the lead of computer-naïve biologists and must be able to effectively describe your algorithm and the results

Why this is a great job
    • You’ll get a competitive salary commensurate with experience, and excellent benefits
    • This isn’t a core facility job—you will be working directly with researchers full-time on exciting research projects and your work will be recognized with authorship on any resulting publications
    • You will be encouraged and expected to broaden your knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and NYU classes relevant to your work

Please send a cover letter and contact information for three references with your resume to:
