Postdoctoral Researcher Bioinformatics at a Prestigious Medical School

A postdoctoral position is open in Dr. Li Shen’s group at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Our research focuses on the development of tools for next-generation sequencing applications. You will help to build systems that can enhance researchers’ productivity and user experience in analyzing datasets from ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq and DNA methyl-Seq. You should be passionate about machine learning, Bayesian statistics and have a technology-oriented mind. You want to build killer applications that can handle very large-scale datasets and advance knowledge through data mining.

You will have the opportunity to work with a few top-notch scientists in genomics and bioinformatics. You will deal with the massive biological datasets generated from a few internationally or nationally renowned labs.

    Requirements:
    - Ph.D. in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics or related fields.
    - Strong programming skills including C, C++, Java, Javascript.
    - Scripting skills with Perl, Python or PHP (or similar).
    - Working experience with Linux and High performance computing.
    - Experience with AJAX technology a strong plus.
    - Working knowledge with machine learning, bioinformatics and biostatistics a strong plus.
    - User interface design a plus.
    - Knowledge with molecular biology, genomics and DNA sequencing a plus.
    - Very good communication skills.

Interested person should send his/her CV along with three references to [email protected]

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
