Official Title: Bioinformatics Specialist/ Programmer-Analyst or Senior Analyst (depending on qualifications)
Description: Seeking to fill a 1-year NSF funded position in the Biology Department at Washington and Lee University to analyze next-generation sequencing data (Illumina, RNA-seq). The project goals are to create reference databases of spider genes and profile expression levels in various spider tissues. Tasks will include data management, de novo sequence assembly, gene annotation, and expression profiling. Experience with Unix and at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Perl, or R) is essential. A bachelor’s of science in computer science, biology, or related field is required. A Ph.D. or master’s degree and work experience in bioinformatics is preferred. The position can be part time or full time with benefits and is available immediately. Minimum salary is $45,302/year or higher, depending on qualifications.
